How to make cake pops

To make cake pops, you’ll need:

Ingredients:

  • 1 baked cake (homemade or store-bought)
  • 1 cup frosting (approximately)
  • Candy melts or chocolate for coating
  • Lollipop sticks
  • Sprinkles or decorations (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Cake: Crumble the baked cake into fine crumbs using your hands or a food processor. Transfer the crumbs to a mixing bowl.
  2. Add Frosting: Gradually add frosting to the cake crumbs, starting with about 1/2 cup. Mix until the mixture reaches a dough-like consistency that holds its shape when rolled into a ball. You may need more or less frosting depending on the moisture of the cake.
  3. Form Cake Balls: Take small portions of the mixture and roll them into balls, typically about 1-1.5 inches in diameter. Place the balls on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  4. Insert Sticks: Melt a small amount of candy melts or chocolate and dip the tip of each lollipop stick into the melted coating. Insert the sticks into the center of each cake ball, about halfway through. Refrigerate the cake balls for about 15-20 minutes to firm up.
  5. Coat with Candy Melts/Chocolate: Melt the candy melts or chocolate according to the package instructions. Dip each cake pop into the melted coating, ensuring it covers the entire surface. Gently tap off excess coating by tapping the stick against the edge of the bowl.
  6. Decorate (Optional): Before the coating sets, you can add sprinkles, chopped nuts, or any decorations of your choice. Place the cake pops upright in a stand or foam block to set completely.
  7. Chill and Serve: Allow the cake pops to cool and set by placing them in the refrigerator for about 15-20 minutes.

Once they’ve set, your cake pops are ready to be enjoyed!

Note: Feel free to get creative with flavors, colors, and decorations to customize your cake pops to your liking!
